Aug. 25, 2015—Professor Dan Cornfield’s Beyond the Beat: Musicians Building Community in Nashville (Princeton University Press) has just been published. Based on in-depth interviews with 75 Nashville music professionals, Cornfield offers a new sociological theory of “artist activism” in recreating artist community for our contemporary era of indie art-making and precarious employment.
The American Sociological Review, edited by Professors Larry Isaac and Holly McCammon, is once again ranked #1 among all sociology journals.
