Grad Student Kaelee Belletto Receives NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program Award:
Kaelee’s research plan is to study the effects of water pollution from extractive industries and agriculture in Appalachia. She will use both quantitative and qualitative methods to examine the relationships between water pollution, human health, and social diversity. She will also study how civil society organizations and local governments employ scientific knowledge to gain attention for local water quality issues and to gain remediation. Thus, the project will contribute to our department’s research strengths in social movements and civil society and health by focusing on water pollution and environmental risk.
