The Graduate Leadership Institute, in partnership with the Bass Military Scholars, will host a 3-part workshop series that will share strategies and techniques used by the military in decision-making, effective communication, and reflection using after-action review. Workshops are designed to expand your leadership perspective and provide a framework with actionable tools for applying these approaches to your endeavors at Vanderbilt and beyond. As the series is cumulative, we strongly encourage you to attend all workshops if possible. All sessions will be held in the Central Library, Room 612A, 12:15 – 1:30 pm, and lunch will be provided.  

Strategic Shifts: Applying Military Decision-Making

Monday, September 18th

Participants will learn how to use the military decision-making process to assess problems and structure a thorough plan of action to best address them.

Cultivating Excellence: Techniques for Giving and Receiving Feedback

Monday, October 2nd

Participants will learn how to give and receive feedback effectively for professional and personal development.

Reflect, Refine, Excel: The After-Action Review

Monday, October 23rd

Participants will learn how to review an event and garner team feedback, identifying strengths that can be built upon and seeking potential areas of improvement.

 

These workshops are open to all graduate school students (PhD, MA, MFS, MLAS & MS) and postdocs.
Spaces are limited, and registration is required.
