In this program, facilitated by CIEE, students take classes at the study center in Shanghai, home to the world's first commercial high-speed Maglev train and the world's largest container port. Students can choose from 3 tracks: Accelerated Chinese Language, Business Language and Culture, or China in a Global Context. Students live either with a Chinese host family, or on campus with a Chinese roommate or other CIEE student. In addition to their coursework, students choose from three one-week long excursions for an in-depth look at China tourism. Students can also explore Shanghai on their own, going on weekly visits to local markets, museums, temples, and acrobat shows, or taking free classes in Chinese cooking, calligraphy, martial arts, music and mahjong.
