College of Arts and Science faculty recognized for excellence in 2021 university awards
Vanderbilt University’s Office of the Provost annually recognizes faculty members for their accomplishments in teaching, research, and service to the campus community with internal awards. Announced at the Fall Faculty Assembly on August 26, 2021, six College of Arts and Science faculty members received awards for their outstanding work.

Chancellor’s Award for Research
The Chancellor’s Awards for Research recognize excellence on the part of faculty for published research, scholarship, or creative expression.

- Andrew Coe, Assistant Professor of Political Science
Chancellor’s Award for Research on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
The Chancellor’s Awards for Research on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion recognize excellence on the part of faculty in published research, scholarship, or creative expression that advances our understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Emily Lordi, Professor of English
- Renã Robinson, Associate Professor of Chemistry
Earl Sutherland Prize for Achievement in Research
The Earl Sutherland Prize for Achievement in Research is awarded to a faculty member whose achievements in research, scholarship, or creative expression have garnered significant critical reception and are recognized nationally or internationally.
- Gordon Logan, Centennial Professor of Psychology
Thomas Jefferson Award
The Thomas Jefferson Award is made annually “for distinguished service to Vanderbilt through extraordinary contributions as a member of the faculty in the councils and government of the University.”
- John McLean, Stevenson Professor of Chemistry
