Professor Janey Camp invited speaker of Poynter Institute Seminar

The Poynter Institute “Covering the Issues Ahead in Trump’s Second Year” was held on October 27, 2017 and  focused on educating and preparing journalists to deal with five key topics that are expected to be key issues next year.  Approximately 30 journalists from around the country were present to learn about Cyber Security, Hate Crimes, NAFTA, the Affordable Care Act, and Climate Change.   The goal of the Institute was to educate and equip journalists in attendance was and information that can be used to inform their coverage of issues locally. Dr. Janey Camp, Research Associate Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering, was among the speakers invited to participate representing Vanderbilt University.  Dr. Camp’s lecture was focused on the local impacts of climate change on infrastructure systems and what can and is being done to prepare for the future.
