Celebrate America Recycles Day with a mass paper shredding Nov. 12

If you have papers, magazines or books that need to be shredded and recycled, Friday, Nov. 12, also known as America Recycles Day, is the day to do it.
VU’s confidential paper shredding partner, Cintas, will have two trucks open to Vanderbilt students and employees to shred and then recycle paper items from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
- on the corner of 24th Avenue and Vanderbilt Place
- behind Eskind Biomedical Library and Light Hall between the VA Hospital
According to Jennifer Hackett, Vanderbilt’s Recycling Coordinator, “Every time we participate in recycling paper, it’s an opportunity to help maintain virgin forests as well as to prevent useful goods from winding up in the landfill.”
America Recycles Day began in 1997 by Keep America Beautiful. It is a nationally recognized day with the purpose of promoting recycling programs across the United States. To learn more, please visit the America Recycles Day site.
