SEAL News: February 28, 2013 – SEAL XIV hotel deadline and conference information

Posted by on Thursday, February 28, 2013 in news.

Dear SEAL members,

This is just a friendly reminder that, if you are planning to attend this years conference at Penn on April 5-6, it is crucial that you reserve your hotel room by March 1 in order to be eligible for the special group rate (and I’m told that there are several events going on at the same time so it may be difficult to get a room if you do not reserve one, either within the block or elsewhere, asap).   The conference hotel this year is the Sheraton Philadelphia City Hotel, located at 3549 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.  The group rate will be $189 per night, plus tax. Please use this link to make your hotel reservation: https://www.vanderbilt.edu/seal/conferences/14th-seal-scholarship-conference/hotels/.

The conference is shaping up to be a really fantastic event, co-sponsored by Penn Law and Penn’s Center for Neuroscience and Society.  I am happy to report that the conference program will include several participants from both Penn Law and CNS.  We are also thrilled to announce that the main keynote address will be delivered by Professor Geoffrey Miller, author of The Mating Mind (2001) and Spent: Sex, Evolution, and Consumer Behavior (2009).  Among other highlights, David Sloan Wilson, our keynote presenter two years ago at SEAL XII, will deliver a special lunchtime presentation.  For more details, please visit the conference website (with the program still evolving) at https://www.vanderbilt.edu/seal/conferences/14th-seal-scholarship-conference/.

In particular, I encourage you to register for the conference NOW, while the “early bird” fee is still available.  The registration fee goes up substantially beginning on March 15.  You can register at https://www.vanderbilt.edu/seal/conferences/14th-seal-scholarship-conference/registration/.

I look forward to seeing many of you at UPenn in April!!

Best,

Julie
