Sarratt Art Studio Classes are only available to Vanderbilt Students (Undergrad through PhD) and Vanderbilt University Faculty/Staff.

How to Purchase Seats for Art Classes: 

  1. Go to Vanderbilt Events  
  1. Select the link that says ‘Click here to log in with your VUnetID’ to see available discounts! 
  • This step is very important. The Vanderbilt Community will not be able to see any art classes available until they log in with their VUnetID 
  1. Select the ‘Sarratt Art Studios’ tab across the top of the page to see all available classes 
  1. Select ‘Buy’ on the class you would like to purchase, and proceed to checkout using desired payment method 
  1. After purchase, the buyer will receive an email from noreply@boxoffice.vanderbilt.edu with confirmation of order with an order number sent to their Vanderbilt email address

How to Request a Refund: 

All refund requests, regardless of payment type, must be sent to sarrattboxoffice@vanderbilt.edu. Please include your name, order number, and payment method when requesting a refund.

SUMMER ART SCHEDULE 2024

**PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SCHEDULE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE**

**OUR CLASSES ARE BEGINNING LEVEL, BUT STUDENTS OF ALL EXPERIENCES ARE WELCOME TO A BEGINNING LEVEL CLASS**

**Classes begin the week of June 3. The Studios are closed for the week of July Fourth (July 1 – 5). Classes should be completed by August 1.

 

MONDAYS

Clay Handbuilding  *Kim Defreece*  6:00 – 8:30pm Sarratt Room 129

Come enjoy the experience of creating functional and decorative objects with your hands and a few basic tools! For centuries, and still today, many clay artists and enthusiasts explore their way with clay by shaping objects with coils, pinching techniques and slabs. We provide tools and supplies plus firings for this class. Open to all levels of experience.

 

TUESDAYS

Beginning Pottery *TBA* 3:00 – 5:30pm Sarratt Room 129

The class you’ve always wanted to take! Students in this class will learn the basics of throwing shapes on the potter’s wheel, trimming, surface design and sgraffito as well as the basics of glazing. All supplies are provided for this class.

Intermediate/Advanced Pottery *David Heustess* 6:00 – 8:30pm Sarratt 129

You’ve had a beginning level class at Sarratt Art Studios, or in another program, and you are ready to sharpen your skills, learn new techniques and explore new forms and ideas! We provide the clay, glazes and supplies to complete your pottery.

 

Beginning Watercolor *Dave Wilson* 6:00 – 8:30pm Sarratt 128

This is a wonderful class to learn how to work with water and color to create unique, expressive designs and paintings of your very own. Explore this amazing medium from basic sketches to working with the brushes to completing your own composition. And since it’s summer, there’s the opportunity to get outside and paint from the wonderful architecture and flora of the Vanderbilt campus. Supplies and tools are provided for this class. Designed for beginners but open to all levels of experience.

 

WEDNESDAYS

Cancellation Policy

Sarratt Art Studios may cancel a course if there are not enough students registered. We will notify you in advance to offer a different class choice or issue a refund.

Refunds/Transfers

*Transfer requests must be made by email 5 business days prior to the start of a course. Transfers can only be honored if space is available in another course.

*Refund requests must be made within 5 business days prior to the start of the course. No refund will be issued after the start of the course for any reason. Choose carefully when you are signing up for a course and make sure you don’t have a conflict with the date or time. There are no refunds for Creation Stations but you may gift one to a friend.

 Sarratt Art Studios courses and creation stations are only available to vanderbilt students and faculty/staff.
