\nshe was the kind of girl who could knot a cherry stem
\nwith her tongue while she grinned and winked.<\/p>\n

I hope they did not think that was beyond her. I heard
\nthe light at her bedside blinked bright and went out
\nwhen something fell upstairs. I heard it shook her <\/p>\n

ceiling raining ashes she shook from her hair.
\nI heard she chewed her lips into ribbons and rags,
\npacked a borrowed bag and hitched to Arizona.<\/p>\n

I heard that was the week she learned about dinosaurs,
\nabout why cats eat first and wash afterward.<\/p>\n
