In &#8220;E is for Estranged,\u201d Pallett sings, &#8220;This house is a hostel \/\u00a0It is peaceful, but it&#8217;s always emptying\u00a0\/\u00a0Boys all want to be someone \/\u00a0Haven&#8217;t you heard? \/\u00a0\u2026I saw my son at seventeen \/\u00a0The shutters made projections on his naked frame \/\u00a0But now at twenty-five, he simply cannot stay away\u00a0\/\u00a0From the ketamine \/\u00a0With make-up on his sores\u00a0\/\u00a0He spends an hour a day composing his own eulogy \/\u00a0Sometimes he sends me letters\u00a0\/\u00a0But they&#8217;re mostly garbled phrases and apologies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Although trained as a classical violinist, Pallett\u2019s storytelling influences range from the videogame to the role-playing game; Pallett originally performed under the name Final Fantasy (the name of a popular series of videogames) and gives nods in his albums to videogames like <em>The Legend of Zelda<\/em> and <em>Super Mario Bros. 3<\/em>., suggesting a debt to videogame composers like Nobuo Uematsu and Koji Kondo.
