Every poem<br \/>\nis about life, especially the ones about death, and life<br \/>\nis a list of lists: A and D, bucket and shit,<br \/>\ntop tens and next-ins, and the list<br \/>\ngoes on, which makes it beautiful,<br \/>\nand beauty is just a list of ideas<br \/>\nabout what beauty is. Pain:<br \/>\na numbered list, one to ten,<br \/>\nten being \u201cI\u2019m already dead\u201d<br \/>\nand one being complete, paralyzing elation.<br \/>\nEven the sweetest slice of Saturday<br \/>\nshould clock in at no lower than a two-point-five.<br \/>\nI am thirty[inaudible] and a list<br \/>\nof words for nonsense: hogwash,<br \/>\nhorsefeathers, gammon, tripe,<br \/>\nand several words I know are words but that\u2019s about it,<br \/>\nwords like \u201cbdellium\u201d and \u201cuintaite\u201d<br \/>\nthat look mutated, and are,<br \/>\nbecause the dictionary is a list of mutants.<br \/>\nChoose one mutant from the following list<br \/>\nand make it your husband:<\/p>\n<p>thermite<br \/>\ndonkeywork<br \/>\ngentoo<br \/>\nplink<\/p>\n<p>You chose donkeywork, didn\u2019t you.<br \/>\nEverybody does.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6><a href=\"https:\/\/wp0.vanderbilt.edu\/nashvillereview\/?p=18159\">James Davis<\/a><\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>because every poem is a body because every body is a list of bodies: ingrown and outgrown, worried, worshiped, warmed, occlusions, papules, pockmarks where the papules popped.
