It was good<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">for a while though, shacked up in our lovers<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">mesh tent, loose, on the lam, the blood-hungry<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">mosquitoes knocking, the veggies hungry<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to swallow us up. End time\u2019s a-coming.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The bloodhounds out for murderous lovers.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After us, the whole world one long lush grave,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">vines for veins, and no one to say it\u2019s good,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">our throats compost, flowers for gutturals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Flashes of eloquence, we knelt, gutted<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">trout by streams, saying gilt-tongued grace, hungry<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">as animals, as bible salesmen. Good<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lord, like wildfire that green\u2019s a-coming,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">coming-for-to-carry us to our graves,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the fallow field, the seed\u2019s long-lost lover.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I tried for elegy, my basil-eyed love,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to be read the night you leave me gutted,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">my fat tomato heart fallen, a grave<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">man indeed. The burning world\u2019s hungry<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">for us to leave, for that all-a-coming<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">canopy, that raw, all-consuming god.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Honey, apocalypse ain\u2019t the end. Good<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">endings swing a scythe, unearth new lovers,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">buried gardens. Nature\u2019s knight\u2019s a-coming,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">riding our own fire right toward us, glutted<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">on butter and bourbon and gas, hungry<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to save his beloved, lay us in our graves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">God, let us bless the earth with our graves,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">make marigolds bloom from bone-dust, make good<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of our grand Gomorrah days. How hungry<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">have we been?
