They danced all night.<\/p>\n<p>Just like the two of you, at that dive bar<br \/>\nin Santa Fe (when you called at 3am to say<br \/>\nyou\u2019d finally met someone).<\/p>\n<p>When he came to visit, your husband<br \/>\nstayed here. His new love lives close by.<br \/>\nHe returned from her arms, all sparkly, school-<br \/>\nboy giddy. Not like last year,<\/p>\n<p>when he was walking wounded, watching<br \/>\nhis cell-phone video of your forest burial,<br \/>\nover and over (the one I still can\u2019t get<br \/>\nout of my head).<\/p>\n<p>Your husband has fallen in love. But she\u2019s<br \/>\nmarried and her spouse is abusive, although<br \/>\nhe\u2019s \u2018never touched her.\u2019 \u201cShe\u2019s ready<br \/>\nto leave him,\u201d your husband says.<\/p>\n<p>I tell him about our friend, Lynnie,<br \/>\nwhose husband \u2018never touched her,\u2019 either,<br \/>\nuntil she tried to leave and he shot her<br \/>\ntwice in the head.<\/p>\n<p>And there\u2019s your voice in my ear, Kate.<br \/>\n<em>Watch out for my husband, you whisper.<br \/>\nHe\u2019s always been naive.<\/em><br \/>\n\u2003<\/p>\n<h6><a href=\"https:\/\/wp0.vanderbilt.edu\/nashvillereview\/archives\/13494\">Alexis Rhone Fancher<\/a><\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Your husband has fallen in love.
