Hood, and Mt. Rainier before that\u2014<\/p>\n<p>their constant loom fixing me from the horizon.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">______<\/span>And tonight it\u2019s the thinness<br \/>\nof these Arkansas fireflies, learning me just<\/p>\n<p>how flooded with light our Pennsylvania yard became.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">______<\/span>As if on cue, you come bombing<br \/>\nout the backdoor, two flashlights in hand,<\/p>\n<p>and run deep into the August dark, where<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">______<\/span>you invent some swirling dance<br \/>\nthat frames your face in a turning I can\u2019t describe.<\/p>\n<p>From beyond an Ozark oak, I know you\u2014:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">______<\/span>the erasure of my face<br \/>\nlit brilliant by the country of your presence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp0.vanderbilt.edu\/nashvillereview\/archives\/12804\"><\/p>\n<h6>Geffrey Davis<\/h6>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Boy\u2014you are this kind of wonder in the dark: ______I\u2019ve spent the evening on the back-porch, smoking in soft complaint, comparing old pleasures of places I have lived:\u2014 ______how I leave something important behind and know the fact once I\u2019ve caught its absence broadcasted ______by new towns.
