A stone cage<br \/>\nspilled with dust.<\/p>\n<p>Here the needle.<br \/>\nPersimmon calyx.<br \/>\nA split fruit. <\/p>\n<p>The long work of separating myself from my body.<\/p>\n<p>What in me knowing fight also<br \/>\nknows falling. What in me ripens,<br \/>\nrots.<\/p>\n<p>Skip to the end. The salt-weight of blood.<br \/>\nThe question of fairness.<\/p>\n<p>When the doctor held my belly-water<br \/>\nto the light, truthfully I was ashamed to speak.<br \/>\nThey searched the humerus. The nose.<br \/>\nAngled wings of bone.<br \/>\nWhen I think of blame,<br \/>\nI blame myself.<\/p>\n<p>What I could take I took.<br \/>\nDrains from me.<br \/>\nMy body blank. The word, &#8220;awash.&#8221;<br \/>\nHands unstitching<br \/>\nme closed.<\/p>\n<p>Suppose I was a cold woman. <\/p>\n<p>Here I hold hands with immensity.<br \/>\nThe world a long way off.<br \/>\nMy body is an airplane,<br \/>\nbound.
