O Whom I May Concern, deliver me
\nfrom desire: make me as an empty basket<\/p>\n

and then unweave the basket. Teach me the sacred kind
\nof loneliness. For you are the Great Solitude–<\/p>\n

even I your supplicant do not know you exist.
\nDivine Loner, Cosmic Wallflower: teach me to know<\/p>\n

your silence as answer. Let me learn to suffer
\nwith the dignity of purpose; if there can be no purpose<\/p>\n

then make me a duck on the currents of
\na swimming pool–content to splash and search<\/p>\n

for minnows that have never been. Teach me the satisfaction
\nof stupidity. If it is your wish that I should live<\/p>\n

then teach me terror: draw dragons
\non the map of Eternity’s ocean; give them<\/p>\n

many long and jagged teeth. Almighty
\nWatchmaker, I’m losing time: wind me,<\/p>\n

bind me to your transcendental wrist
\nor unmake this fleshy nettle of gears–<\/p>\n

but do not leave me here
\nticking and chiming pointlessly<\/p>\n

in the darkness of your Holy Junkdrawer,
\namidst strange tools and surplus stars.<\/p>\n
