And some would say apples<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span>but maybe it\u2019s really <em>this <\/em>fruit that she\u2019s bound to with string\u2014<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span>five strings. One for each finger. Five fruits. And something that bleeds<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span>not just onto the page, as she slits the plump seeds, and stares at the art<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span>deco sketch of a nymph eating seeds, but that bleeds<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span>more and more\u2014more than it should, from within, staining<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span>the several grades and softnesses and thicknesses of paper,<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span>wadded inside and out, and cloth that she wears on her body<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span>and sheets (though she tries to relinquish, to wash out<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">____<\/span>the stain)<\/p>\n<h6><a title=\"Spring 2010 Contributors\" href=\"\/nashvillereview\/archives\/693\">Sarah Maclay<\/a><\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>________Not just one.
