Out in Engineering
Out in Engineering is an organization dedicated to the visibility and advancement of LGBTQ2S+ people in the engineering field. We make it our mission to attract speakers from the community to come and inspire members, share opportunities specifically for LGBTQ2S+ engineering professionals (such as the Out for Undergrad conference series), and provide a safe space for those struggling with the balancing act of the stress of engineering classes and finding their true self in college. We strive to provide a mix of social and professional programming. A big issue we hope to tackle is that there are members of the LGBTQ2S+ community in engineering, but very few know each other. By providing safe social events, we can connect this lesser-known network of the school. We will be proactive in partnering with other student organizations and companies to encourage our members to develop both socially and professionally.

Affinity Groups

If you or someone you know is questioning or seeking community for their sexual and/or gender identities, check out the LGBTQ2S+ Life Affinity Groups. Affinity groups are an opportunity for Vanderbilt students to come together around a shared identity and/or interest they hold. Affinity groups are facilitated by staff, faculty and/or graduate students and are not student organizations.

The K.C. Potter Center for LGBTQI Life (LGBTQI Life) advises many student organizations on campus. These organizations are all self-governed by their respective constitutions, presidents, and executive boards. The programs, protests, statements, and other actions engaged in by the student organizations advised by LGBTQI Life do not necessarily represent the opinions, values, or beliefs of Vanderbilt University, Student Affairs, or LGBTQI Life.
