To submit an article to the Journal of STEM Outreach, you will need to register on the Open Journal Systems website using the Register at Open Journal Systems link below. Once on this site you will register “As an Author”.<\/p>\n

If you are submitting more than one manuscript, please submit both separately.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Starting the Submission<\/strong><\/h4>\n
    \n
  • Journal Section <\/em><\/strong>– <\/em>Select the appropriate article type you are submitting from the drop down menu (Research Studies, Program Descriptions, Case Studies, or Commentaries)<\/li>\n
  • Submission Checklist <\/em><\/strong>– <\/em>Check all of these boxes before moving on.<\/li>\n
  • Copyright notice <\/em><\/strong>– Check this box to continue.<\/li>\n
  • Comments for the Editor <\/strong>– <\/em>If you have any comments that will assist the editors in reviewing your manuscript, please enter them here.\u00a0This field is optional.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Click \u201cSave & Continue\u201d<\/p>\n

    Step 2: Uploading the Submission<\/strong><\/h4>\n
      \n
    • Click on \u201cChoose File\u201d and then \u201cUpload\u201d<\/li>\n
    • Your file name should be the lead authors last name in all CAPS, followed by an abbreviated title. Example: \u00a0SHEPHERD \u2013 STEM Literacy in K-12<\/li>\n
    • Upload your manuscript, with the title\u00a0page, manuscript text, acknowledgements, and figure captions all in one document. The cover letter and figures will be uploaded as separate files in the supplementary section. Figures can be uploaded as .jpg or .tif. Tables can be created as part of the\u00a0manuscript, or as separate files. If included in the manuscript, they should follow the figure captions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Step 3: Entering the Submission\u2019s Metadata<\/strong><\/h4>\n
        \n
      • Authors<\/strong> – <\/em>Fill in the required boxes and any additional information, starting with the lead author.<\/li>\n
      • \u00adTitle and Abstract<\/strong> – <\/em>Enter the full title of your manuscript, then copy and paste the manuscript abstract into the text box.<\/li>\n
      • Indexing <\/strong>–\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Fill in academic disciplines and at least 3 keywords<\/li>\n
      • Contributing and Supporting Agencies <\/em><\/strong>– Enter appropriate funding information here.<\/li>\n
      • References <\/strong>–\u00a0<\/em>Copy and paste your references cited into the text box.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        \u201cClick Save and Continue\u201d<\/p>\n

        Step 4: Uploading Supplementary Files<\/strong><\/h4>\n
          \n
        • Upload the cover letter, and any figures and supplemental data as separate files.<\/li>\n
        • File names should be authors last name in all caps, a hyphen, and the figure number or the title of the document. Example: LEE \u2013 Figure 1, or LEE \u2013 DATA SET 1.<\/li>\n
        • Click \u201cChoose File\u201d and then \u201cupload\u201d<\/li>\n
        • Supplementary File Metadata<\/strong> \u2013 <\/em>This will open once you click \u201cupload\u201d\n
            \n
          • Title –\u00a0<\/em>Figure number or title of document<\/li>\n
          • Type –\u00a0<\/em>If this is a figure, choose \u201cother\u201d<\/li>\n
          • Brief Description –\u00a0<\/em>Figure caption.<\/li>\n
          • Supplementary File –\u00a0<\/em>Check the box for \u201cPresent file to Reviewers\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • Continue to upload additional files or continue on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Click \u201cSave and continue\u201d<\/p>\n

            Click \u201cFinish submission\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
