Brandeis University’s Associate Professor of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies, Dr. ChaeRan Freeze, comes to Vanderbilt on November 13th.

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Freeze is currently Associate Professor of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis University.

TEACHING AND RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Freeze’s research focuses on the history and culture of Jews in Russia, Jewish family history and women’s and gender studies.

HONORS AND AWARDS

She is the recipient of  Salo W. Baron Prize for the best first book in Jewish Studies for the year 2002 by the American Academy for Jewish Research and the 2007 Alan M. Stroock Fellow For Advanced Research in Jewish Studies, Harvard University, among others.

SELECTED PUBLICATIONS

Dr. Freeze has authored or edited more than 10 books on Jewish culture and history.
