Before you arrive to campus…
- All new students (graduate, professional and undergraduate) are asked to complete the Pre-Arrival Form to inform ISSS of your arrival and let us know your flight plans.
- Remember: International students and exchange visitors are allowed to arrive in the U.S. up to 30 days before their program start date.
Undergraduate Students: Move-in Day
Please note that Undergraduate residence halls are only available to move-in starting at 8am on Tuesday, August 13th. Please check-in at The Commons Center between 8am and midnight to collect your room key and card. Student volunteers will be available to assist with luggage, if needed. If you are arriving earlier than August 13, you will NOT be able to move-in to your room early. There are no exceptions. Please make alternate arrangements at the Scarritt Bennett Center, Music City Hostel, or an Extended Stay hotel if you will be arriving before residence halls open.
Graduate students are required to be here for a mandatory immigration check-in on August 12th. Check-in sessions will be assigned and will start at 8am. If you have not yet found housing upon arrival, please search for temporary housing accommodations using the resources found on the “Coming to Vanderbilt” page or stay at a nearby hotel/extended stay hotel/airbnb/hostel/etc. until you have secured a residence.
For incoming international students, Vanderbilt will cover the cost of one ride from the airport to your destination (either on-campus or off-campus) up to a $30 value using the Lyft rideshare app. New students who complete the Pre-Arrival form and indicate that they need a Lyft code will be emailed a unique Lyft PROMO code. For any ride that exceeds $30, the difference must be paid by the student (via a linked credit or debit card).
The Lyft codes will be only valid for a specific period of time. Due to the nature of the promo code, we cannot offer airport pickup outside of the scheduled dates. If you are arriving earlier, please request a taxi or personal Lyft.
Incoming undergraduate international students who have questions about airport pickup should contact email@example.com.
Incoming graduate international students who have questions about airport pickup should contact Andrea at firstname.lastname@example.org. Graduate students will be eligible for Lyft codes if they are arriving during the month of August and request a code using the Pre-Arrival form. Codes are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you would like to use the Lyft service, you must have a working U.S. phone number (you can use the free SIM cards sent with your DS-2019/I-20 for this purpose!), a smartphone, and a credit/debit card linked to a major bank.
Complete the Pre-Arrival Form fully; only completed forms will be approved and responded to. Your unique Lyft code will be emailed to you. (If you are not sure if your form is complete or has been received, please email ISSS to confirm.)
Receive your unique Lyft PROMO code. Save to your Lyft app by entering it in the “Promos” section.
Arrive at the Nashville International Airport (airport code BNA). Make sure that you collect all of your bags prior to requesting a Lyft ride – your ride may be cancelled if you are late!
Request a Lyft ride using the promo code. The code covers up to $30 off of one ride from BNA to your accommodation. If your ride costs more than $30, the difference will be charged to the card that is linked to your Lyft account.
Arrive at your destination!
