On this study center program, students study educational policies and pedagogies utilized in Chile and Argentina, and explore the relationship between education, society, and diversity in both countries. In addition to their coursework, students complete either an internship or an independent study project. As a required piece of this program, students experience three types of homestays, two in the urban communities of Santiago, Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina, and one with an indigenous Mapuche family near Temuco, Chile.

Courses are taught in Spanish, and students wishing to enroll in SIT Chile: Comparative Education and Social Change must have completed three semesters of college-level Spanish, or equivalent, with ability to follow coursework in Spanish. Also, relevant previous coursework in education, Latin American studies, or developmental studies is required.
