Academic Services for Vanderbilt Undergraduate Students
The following campus resources will support students with their academic transition to Vanderbilt:
All faculty members have office hours, and TAs and study sessions are often part of the course design. Ensure that your student is taking advantage of those opportunities!
Academic advising by school
Tutoring Services offers free, individual, appointment-based tutoring to all Vanderbilt undergraduates for introductory classes in the following departments: biological sciences, chemistry, economics, mathematics, neuroscience, physics and most of the foreign languages. “Help desks” are offered by various departments; their schedules are posted on the Arts and Sciene tutoring website.
STEM Help Desks
Tutoring for introductory courses in engineering, mathematics and science is offered through the STEM Help Desks in Featheringill Hall and the Commons Center with support from the National Science Foundation through a grant to the Tennessee Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation.
TLSAMP drop-in tutoring
In partnership with Arts and Science, Engineering offers help desks for all students in engineering, science and mathematics.
The Writing Studio is a free and confidential writing resource for Vanderbilt students. Writing consultants work with students on any piece of writing, from course assignments to extracurricular projects.
Center for Student Wellbeing
The Center for Student Wellbeing (CSW) offers various types of support to help students succeed academically. Students may seek one-on-one appointments, or participate in workshops. Walk-in hours are also offered to briefly address concerns and determine a plan for follow-up.
Library staff also work closely with students to build their academic toolkit.
