Global Music Archive

Posted by on Monday, October 28, 2019 in DH Projects at Vanderbilt.

The Global Music Archive is a multi-media reference archive for traditional and popular song, music, and dance of Africa and the Americas. Our goal is to promote the education and understanding of the music from specific communities, countries, and cultural groups like Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda and East Africa, and the American south with the Appalachian Dulcimer Archive. We partner with Vanderbilt faculty and local scholars who are doing research in these areas to preserve, promote and make accessible their work. We are currently working on two additional collections, one on music in Malawi and another on blues music in the US South.   The archive is a digital archive, available freely online and is curated and supported by the staff in the Anne Potter Wilson Music Library with assistance from the Heard Libraries.

We are open to collaborators. For more info, check out our website or contact holling.smith-borne@vanderbilt.edu.
