Review: Salon@615 featuring Ta-Nehisi Coates
It was a meeting of the minds yesterday in Nashville, thanks to the Salon@615 author series. Internationally acclaimed author Ta-Nehisi Coates sat down with Nashville Native and Vanderbilt alumna Tiana Clark, to discuss his latest book, and first novel, The Water Dancer. It was a packed crowd at TPAC’s James K. Polk theater as audience members looked on with rapt attention while Coates and Clark discussed, approaching difficult subject matters in fiction, depicting the rich interior lives of the enslaved, the importance of doing one’s homework, and how remembrance and rage are necessary acts of devotion in the face of mass erasure. You can catch the next Salon@615 on Saturday, the 16th of November, at 10 am, at Hume-Fogg Highschool, where Walter Isaacson and Evan Thomas will be honored with the Nashville Public Library Literary Award.
