NYT article about Civil Rights Exhibition at Frist Art Museum for which CMAP student worked as curatorial intern
Between January and March 2018, as part of her internship requirement for the Comparative Media Analysis and Practice (CMAP) program, Kate Schaller completed a 40 hour internship as curatorial assistant to Katie Delmez, curator of the “We Shall Overcome: Civil Rights and the Nashville Press, 1957-1968” photography exhibition, on view at the Frist Art Museum from March 30 – October 14, 2018. The exhibition is comprised of photographs taken from the Tennessean and the former Nashville Banner that illustrate Nashville’s history with respect to the Civil Rights Movement. Kate worked on materials for an interactive touchscreen installation to accompany the exhibition, as well as a timeline and playlist for the Frist’s educational app. Read a recent article about the show in a New York Times op-ed piece by Margaret Renkl by following this link: “Looking Our Racist History in the Eye” (NYT, Sept 10, 2018).
