FLAS Academic Year Fellowships
The Center for Latin American Studies at Vanderbilt University receives funding from the U.S. Department of Education to support Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) Awards for the intensive study of Lesser-Commonly-Taught-Languages (LCTLs) during the academic year. Fellowships provide tuition expenses for the study of a LCTL and a monthly stipend. U.S. citizens or permanent residents interested in pursuing graduate study at Vanderbilt and an interest in K’iche’ Maya, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole are eligible to apply. Fellowships are for one year, but can be extended, provided that the student remains in good standing and successfully completes the FLAS re-application process.
Please direct any questions to CLAS Assistant Director/DGS, Dr. Nicolette Kostiw (email).
Application is due by February 8,2019. Awards will be announced in conjunction with admissions decisions in April.
See Student Summer Awards for information on Summer FLAS Fellowships.
