Chancellor’s Lecture Series
The Chancellor’s Lecture Series connects the university and the Nashville community with leaders and visionaries who are shaping our world. Chancellor’s Lecture Series events are open to all in the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities unless otherwise noted due to capacity.
Academic Strategic Plan
In her role as associate vice chancellor for research, Interim Chancellor Wente partnered with John Geer, now dean of the College of Arts and Science, to gather input from more than 1,500 individuals to develop the Academic Strategic Plan and led implementation of the plan with engagement from even more members of the Vanderbilt community. The Academic Strategic Plan is transforming Vanderbilt’s approach to research, learning, student support, faculty development and the university’s academic future.
FutureVU is the university’s campus land use framework for the next 20 to 30 years, guided by and in alignment with the goals of the Academic Strategic Plan.
Women at Vanderbilt
Interim Chancellor Susan R. Wente launched a series of initiatives to ensure that all women at Vanderbilt are supported and succeeding.
Mental Health and Wellbeing
Vanderbilt emphasizes the health and wellbeing of all members of the university community. The university has launched a series of related initiatives and programs, including the Student Care Network, informed by the Chancellor’s Strategic Planning Committee on Mental Health and Wellbeing.
The GlobalVU web portal connects Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff to international resources while also showcasing the university’s positive global impact and elevating our international profile.
2018-19 Strong Foundations Annual Report
Vanderbilt’s annual report, highlighting the university’s accomplishments in the 2018-19 academic year and the strong foundations upon which Vanderbilt’s future is built.
Chancellor’s ‘Dores of Distinction
The ‘Dores of Distinction Alumni Advisory Board provides valuable counsel to Interim Chancellor Wente and other leaders at Vanderbilt by engaging with other alumni and examining the university’s current course and bright future.
Chancellor Faculty Fellows
The Chancellor Faculty Fellows program is a two-year program focused on the development of recently-tenured faculty members. The Fellows receive $40,000 per year to support their development and promote trans-institutional collaboration.
Chancellor’s Public Voices Fellowship
A semester-long faculty development program, the Chancellor’s Public Voices Fellowship is designed to amplify the impact of faculty academic research and expand Vanderbilt’s global reach.
Chancellor’s Heart and Soul Staff Appreciation Awards
The Chancellor’s Heart and Soul Staff Appreciation Awards celebrate staff members at Vanderbilt whose day-to-day efforts and cooperative spirit contribute to the university’s successes.

Vanderbilt University is home to a number of initiatives that promote the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. The 2018-19 Chancellor’s Diversity Report highlights how those values were demonstrated across the campus during that academic year.

Interim Chancellor’s Diversity Council
The Interim Chancellor’s Diversity Council is charged with advocating for equity, diversity and inclusion across all areas of the university and serving as a guide to Interim Chancellor and Provost Susan R. Wente to build on existing strengths and identify areas of growth.
