Vanderbilt Commodores are the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Champions

Commodore Nation,

Once again, it is good to be GOLD! Please join me in congratulating our Vanderbilt Commodores – the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Champions!

This is a history-making win – the university’s first national championship in women’s tennis – for a remarkable team that has a 23-match home win streak stretching over two seasons.

Our No. 4 nationally seeded Commodores defeated the No. 7 seeded UCLA Bruins to take the top prize tonight in the NCAA Championship at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Women’s tennis has enjoyed unprecedented success under the leadership of two-time SEC Coach of the Year Geoff Macdonald. We take special pride in celebrating Geoff’s commitment as he finishes his 21st season as head coach, and Vanderbilt’s longest-tenured coach.

This year’s postseason play marks the Commodores’ 21st consecutive tournament appearance.

With yet another national championship win in the record books, let us continue our heartfelt and hearty support for our wonderful women and men who don the black and gold to represent Vanderbilt as student-athletes.

Go ‘Dores!

Sincerely,
Nicholas S. Zeppos
Chancellor
