Nominations now open for Berg Global Artist-in-Residence Fellowship
The College of Arts and Science has announced that nominations for the Berg Global Artist-in-Residence Fellowship are now open until September 30. All Vanderbilt faculty are eligible to submit nominations, and nominations by interdisciplinary teams of faculty are encouraged.
The program brings accomplished visual artists to Vanderbilt to expose the campus community to new perspectives, media, and ideas in the visual arts. Through an immersive, residential stay, Berg Fellows will collaborate with faculty and students on a range of creative projects and initiatives. Fellows may serve as guest speakers or instructors in courses; collaborate on art projects and installations; and conduct workshops, lectures, exhibits, panel discussions, and public-facing events.
“I am thrilled about the impact this program will have on so many areas of our campus,” said Bonnie J. Dow, Vice Dean and Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs in the College of Arts and Science. “As residential fellows, the artists will be intimately involved in programming, academics, and projects that inspire and educate the Vanderbilt community. They will explore interdisciplinary connections between the arts and other academic disciplines, expanding our understanding of the arts, their depth and meaning, and their impact on other fields of study.”
The Berg Global Artist-in-Residence Fellowship was established by a generous gift from Vanderbilt parents Allison and Larry Berg. In addition to the fellowship program, their gift also established two Dean’s Faculty Fellowships in the College of Arts and Science.
